Melvins - The Maggot

Genre: Sludge
Year: 1999
About: This band really showed their teeth with this release, the first part of a trilogy. The consensus is that this is their heaviest offering to date, and I'm not disagreeing! The monster riffage on this album will knock you on your ass. This is heavy and drags along at a grooving pace, just like great SLUDGE should be. Murky.

About: Justin Vernon (of Bon Iver)'s side project with Collection of Colonies of Bees. Some really experimental stuff here, reaching into the depths of ambient and post rock while still keeping the indie principles all you hipsters love. Great album.
