Flying Lotus - Studio Discography & Pattern+Grid World

Genre: Electronic
About: "Being the great-nephew of Alice Coltrane, John Coltrane's wife, Ellison comes from a musical heritage about which he says: “My greatest influences are my family, I’m lucky to have been around so many accomplished musicians.” When discussing the sources of his imagination and inspiration, he explains that : “I see these tracks as little short films that play in my head… I have this beautiful lemon tree in my backyard, and on a sunny day the light shines through. Little things like that inspire me"

Songs of Green Pheasant Discography

Genre: Indie, Psych-folk, Post Rock
About: Simply beautiful, music for the thoughts. "Songs Of Green Pheasant is the work of Duncan Sumpner, a 30-year-old artist / teacher from Oughtibridge in Sheffield. His self-titled debut album was released on FatCat in August 2005, and drew widespread praise, gaining admiration from Devendra Banhart, mum, and Vetiver, and making many people’s lists as an outsider ‘album of the year’. What emerged on that record was something fragile, yet coherent and utterly charming. With a warm cloudy depth, sweet melodies and some gorgeous vocal harmonising, it was a set of simply beautiful, beautifully sung and played songs."

Jesu Discography

Genre: Post-Metal, Shoegaze, Drone, Ambient
About: Justin Broadrick (of former Godflesh, Napalm Death, Final, and Techno Animal fame) claims that Jesu are not any of the genre's listed above, and that they make what he considers to be coherent and structured pop songs. By no means is any Jesu song a "pop" song, as every song is a different venture through the deep realms of drone and spacious metal. You can definitely hear all of Broadrick's various influences as each album defies many rules of the genre. Though they have not received much reception in the mainstream or underground universes, Jesu are a hidden gem that create incredible drone jams and metal epics.

Om Discography

Genre: Stoner, Doom, Psychedelic
About: Om formed in 2003 out of the rhythm section of Sleep, with music similar in structure to Tibetan chanting. In 2007, the band played a set in Jerusalem that lasted over 5 hours, which marked a first for a Doom Metal band performing in a very religious country. This is true bong-ripping music, with most tracks lasting well over 15 minutes and each consisting of addicting riffs and heavy, driving drums. Just listening to Om with a focused mind is enough to get you high.

Amusement Parks on Fire - Out of the Angeles

Genre: Shoegaze, Indie, Post-Rock
Year: 2006
About: One of the most engrossing musical experiences... Amusement Parks on Fire release their second album only a year after the first, but they completely refined and built upon their previous sound. Huge shoegaze soundscapes surround you through this trip, while also being accompanied by a more post-rock style this time around. It is a beautifully written album from beginning to end, and accompanied with their self-titled venture makes for two of the greatest shoegaze albums of the 2000's.
Sounds Like: My Bloody Valentine, Mogwai, Lilys, This Will Destroy You, Swervedriver, Chapterhouse
