Yo La Tengo Discography

Genre: Indie, Noise/Dream Pop, Experimental
About: Simply one of the greatest bands ever. They have an unmatched sound and are consistent with releasing amazing albums from the 80's to present time. Truly beautiful music through and through, honestly one can not have a say in what Indie rock is til they've experienced the Tengo.

A Place to Bury Strangers - A Place to Bury Strangers

Genre: Shoegaze, Indie
Year: 2007
About: Some noisy, angsty shoegaze. Within the heavy distortion are some pretty melodies though, and Oliver Ackermann's vocals scream unfulfilled teenage lust.
Sounds Like: My Bloody Valentine, The Jesus and Mary Chain, HEALTH

Deerhunter Discography

Genre: Psychedelic, Indie, Shoegaze

About: "Deerhunter is a band which formed in 2001 in Atlanta, Georgia. The band consists of Bradford Cox (vocals, guitar, piano), Moses Archuleta (drums, synths), Lockett Pundt (guitar, organ, vocals) and Josh Fauver (bass, vocals). The group began with the ambition of fusing the lulling hypnotic states induced by ambient and minimalist music with the klang and propulsion of garage rock. The band has weathered chaotic line-up changes, the death of a member, and much discouragement."

Jesu Discography

Genre: Post-Metal, Shoegaze, Drone, Ambient
About: Justin Broadrick (of former Godflesh, Napalm Death, Final, and Techno Animal fame) claims that Jesu are not any of the genre's listed above, and that they make what he considers to be coherent and structured pop songs. By no means is any Jesu song a "pop" song, as every song is a different venture through the deep realms of drone and spacious metal. You can definitely hear all of Broadrick's various influences as each album defies many rules of the genre. Though they have not received much reception in the mainstream or underground universes, Jesu are a hidden gem that create incredible drone jams and metal epics.

Amusement Parks on Fire - Out of the Angeles

Genre: Shoegaze, Indie, Post-Rock
Year: 2006
About: One of the most engrossing musical experiences... Amusement Parks on Fire release their second album only a year after the first, but they completely refined and built upon their previous sound. Huge shoegaze soundscapes surround you through this trip, while also being accompanied by a more post-rock style this time around. It is a beautifully written album from beginning to end, and accompanied with their self-titled venture makes for two of the greatest shoegaze albums of the 2000's.

Amusement Parks on Fire - s/t

Genre: Shoegaze, Indie
Year: 2005
About: In terms of shoegaze, some may laugh at this album (I however do not, it's one of my favorites!). But in terms of indie rock with insanely heavy shoegaze influence this is one of the best bands out there. Heavily distorted guitars and angelic reverb on the vocals, Amusement Parks on Fire are one of the best indie-shoegaze bands of the 2000's. To not listen is the same as rejecting a free pound of good, stupid.
Sounds Like: My Bloody Valentine, Lovesliescrushing, ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, Swervedriver, Chapterhouse, Lilys
